Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
Research Tower and Electrical Power Engineering
Cincinnati, OH

VT Designs Solutions was part of the design team that performed comprehensive electrical engineering, power system design and lighting on the hospital’s 13-story research center in 2007. The electrical engineering included lighting, power, controls for the house laboratories, clinical faculty offices, other special research facilities, and the Center for Computational Medicine.

This state-of-the-art building houses approximately 415,000 square feet of research and office space, and will expand the total research space to nearly a million square feet when it is completed. The building will be one of the largest health-science research complexes in the country, with over 70,000 square feet of laboratories and 17,000 square feet of teaching labs.

Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati spans over two million square feet and employs more than 5,000 employees. It is part of the Children’s Hospital medical center campus.

The building was engineered and designed to foster collaboration among various scientific disciplines, and groups are now clustered geographically by broad, overlapping interests and themes rather than by academic department or division.
